This year I had the opportunity to attend RSA Conference 2015. It was a great time even though it was cold compared to sunny South Florida. Sat in on many talks. One of the most memorable was “The Little JPEG that could (Hack Your Network)” by Marcus Murray from Truesec. Also, there was a talk on OS X Persistence, by Patrick Wardle from Synack which was very informative.
Patrick made some applications he developed available to us. His site is Objective See the apps are Knock Knock UI and Block Block.
I had the opportunity to meet Jack Daniels at #TongaCon. Met a bunch of security folks and everyone was really down to earth. I listen to Jack every week on Paul’s Security Weekly.
Jack was very down to earth and greeted everyone. I spoke to Michael Shea about possibly doing a B-Sides Miami or B-Sides Ft. Lauderdale. He has some info on some previous inquiries about Miami. Said I should talk to Jack. Gonna try to hook up with the Hack Miami crew and see if they have discussed this already. Unfortunately, I did not realize the B-Sides San Fran was going on here in San Fran as well or I would have attended.
Tonga was absolutely gorgeous although the walk to get there was brutal.
The Expo was great although at times, vexing. You are accosted by people wanting to scan you to SPAM you later on. Next year I am going to set up an alias so after the show(s) and I have communicated to those that I want to communicate with, I create a rule.
